Standby Mode: 16 hours per day, Usage: 8 hours per day. Electricity Cost: $0.25/kwh

If you need to use a heated hose (optional extra), the extra power cost will be around 4.5c per day.

What DC to AC inverter should I use for Camping?

The power consumption of the BMC CPAP/APAP machine is VERY LOW (typically under 50W). We recommend using an inverter of at least 150W (CPAP operation without Huimidifier) or a 300W invertor when using a CPAP Machine with humidifier.

This will allow the inverter to run without nearing it's maximum rated capacity. Running the machine without the heated humidifier will save power.

The cheaper type of 'modified sinewave' is OK (no need to spend extra on a pure sinewave inverter)

As an example, at the time of writing;

  • A 400W 12VDC to 230VAC 'modified sinewave' inverter costs less than $100 from Jaycar Electronics

You can also purchase similar products from Boating Camping Fishing (BCF), Supercheap Auto or Repco.
