Which CPAP Machine is right for me?

CPAP Machines are the cheapest option. The BMC Resmart CPAP provides a constant amount of pressure to keep the upper airway open during sleep. The amount of pressure needs to be determined by a recently sleep study, followed up by a Doctors' prescription which will state the “treatment pressure”.

APAP (Auto) Machines are (in my opinion) the best option. The BMC Resmart Auto is a stylish and quiet therapy system for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). The Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (APAP) helps prevent the collapse of upper airways during sleep and stops snoring.

The BMC Resmart Auto has three modes of operation;

CPAP Mode: A constant fixed Treatment Pressure.

Auto Mode: The Treatment Pressure will be maintained, but if needed, may be automatically increased during sleep, up to the maximum treatment pressure to help keep the upper airway open.

Titration Mode: This is another form of automatic operation.The pressure will automatically vary constantly between the Initial Pressure and the Maximum Pressure, depending on what the machine determines is necessary to keep the upper airway open. In my personal experience, this is the most comfortable mode of operation.

The APAP machine will automatically adjust to the pressure required to help keep the upper airway open during sleep. So if you have been trialing a machine, or want to replace your old machine and you do not know your treatment pressure, the BMC Auto machine would be the way to go.

How loud is a CPAP machine?

Some describe it as like having a fan running in the bedroom, others like having the air conditioning running. Click here to listen to the sound of the BMC Auto.

Please visit our YouTube™ channel to watch/listen to the BMC Auto and another well known brand. Both machines are running at 4cmH20 pressure, without a hose/mask connected, recorded from approx. 15cm distance.

Can I change my pressure settings?

Yes, it is your machine and it is possible. Some experienced CPAP / APAP users like to manage their own healthcare, and there can be benefits in doing so.

However, you first need to understand and learn about the associated risks and benefits. Before making any changes, we strongly advise you to discuss the reasons why you may wish to change the pressure settings on your machine with your healthcare professional.
